Vinny

We have been a one dog household since the untimely departure of Rusty's sister Shea during the spring of 2010. We have been thinking of adopting a new dog for years. Once we saw a dog similar to Rusty on a shelter website and even drove there to meet him, but he was already adopted.

Just before Thanksgiving, Tomu saw a friend's cousin's post on facebook about a dog she knew that needed a new home. A few days later he came to visit with us so we could see if he would get along with all the other small mammals living in our home.

His name was Tino, short for Valentino (he had been found as a stray last Valentine's Day.) The woman who had taken him in had fallen ill and couldn't care for him anymore.

He is a miniature poodle and about 4 years old. He immediately took to Rusty and by the third day or so they were playing the way Rusty and Shea used to play. Margot loves him in a way she has never shown with another dog. Tomu picked him up on a Saturday and by Sunday we knew he was meant to be in our family.

Rusty is named for Rusty Staub and Shea was named for Shea Stadium, so we knew he would need a baseball name that sounded suitably manly; his looks are a bit more ambiguous! We went with Vinny for Vin Scully.

By mid week we saw this in the bed and were sure we had made the right decision!

So welcome, Vinny! We are so happy to have you.
